Jim Van Hise is an award-winning graphic artist and marketing professional in Cleveland, Ohio. He cut his teeth in the design world at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, where he directed advertising for the Post-Gazette Pavilion, home of the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. Jim now manages the Creative Services team for OverDrive, Inc., the world’s leading distributor of eBooks and more to libraries and schools.Download Printable Resume
Manage and built a team of 6 internal designers where our responsibilities include providing design and production for OverDrive marketing initiatives, including corporate branding, product marketing and marketing for other departments as needed. Utilizes creativity and innovative ideas and concepts to create promotional materials and corporate brand in appropriate formats (web, email marketing, print & video).
Provide lessons, demonstrations, instruction and lecture for adult education students focusing on the following classes: Design principles, Basic & Advanced Photoshop, Basic & Advanced Illustrator & Basic and Advanced InDesign.
Creative Manager of marketing/advertising campaigns that connected national CPG Brands, Retail, and Restaurant companies to more than 64 million consumers. Managed daily operations of the graphics department which included 2 freelance designers, interns, and purchaser and over a dozen commercial printers, while balancing a 14 million dollar production budget.
Designed and maintained corporate brand standards for the 12th largest architecture firm in the world. Created one-of-a-kind pieces for both international and domestic clients. Duties included book story crafting and production, resort theming, presentation layouts, signage and wall graphics, video production, photography, benchmarking and research, and identity design and management.
Designed logos, brochures, advertising campaigns, posters, direct mail, web banners and promotional items for the Post-Gazette’s Advertising, Circulation, Marketing and Online departments. Arranged for professional photography and art directed the photo shoots. Oversaw the brand to ensure that the company’s graphic standards were achieved.
